» Feature Writer Barbara Pytel - Remarriage

In response to Remarriage posted by inform05:
I have recently learned that there are two annulment forms. Quick and long. If the other party has never married in the Catholic Church, the ceremony is not recognized by the church. However, an annulment is still required (another topic for discussion) but a short version that should be a matter of paperwork with supporting documents.

The long version is for those married within the Catholic church. It takes 12-24 months, several witnesses, affidavids, interviews. And if you have been married more than once and are trying to get an annulment, "May the force be with you." Unfortunately, I have found that not all priests are well-versed in the annulment process and mislead people. I happen to know some on the tribunal board. So, even if you know how the process should work, the local priest can trump the official tribunal process because without his paperwork you will never get to the tribunal. In this case, it should be a quick and simple process but........
