True Life in God - Revelations for Modern TimesHow God Touched One Woman with the Gift of Interior Locutions
National tennis champion, Sheraton Hotel model, artist, socialite, hostess, wife, mother: An ideal person to receive revelations from God? God's ways can be surprising.
Once upon a time — November 1985 to be exact — in Bangladesh, a woman was sitting down to write a shopping list when suddenly her arm felt strangely heavy. “Oh, it must have been the tennis,” she thought, as she had lately been competing in a tennis tournament at the local country club. But, no, that was not it. As she attempted again to write, instead of words, a heart was drawn – and out of the heart emerged a rose. Then it was written, “I am your guardian angel,” and, “My name is Daniel.” Does God Approach People so Simply, so Directly? When asking if Godly events can occur so directly and simply, believers would say that the simple answer is, "Yes, indeed. He does." Vassula Ryden, who on that day had been trying to write a simple shopping list, was approached in precisely that way. And no one was more astonished than she. For thirty years, Vassula had not even stepped into a church except to meet social obligations, such as weddings and funerals. Although born into a Christian home, she had no education in the catechism, knew nothing of, “matters of church,” and had been spending her life blithely absorbed in the higher strata of worldly society. Charisms, Messages and Revelations from GodFollowing a three-month purification given by her angel, Vassula began to receive messages from Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Mary, the Mother of God. These messages are detailed in a book titled, True Life in God, which begins by engaging the reader with the very most basic truths, “I am your Father. You are my seed. You belong to me,” like a father awakening his child from a long coma – reminding the child of whom he is, to whom he belongs and from where he comes. It is an intimate portrait of God's love for humanity. “Early in the text,” writes Tony Hickey, “it becomes apparent that Vassula does not attempt to hide from the reader Jesus’ frequent reminders that she was not chosen because of her virtues, but rather because of her lack of them. Vassula was not a committed Christian before these experiences began. Jesus draws her attention to her past ‘wretchedness’ not as a reprimand but as proof of His love for her, and therefore for all those lost in sin.” (TLIG Vol. 3, p.II) God Desires Love and IntimacyTrue Life in God is, in fact, a call to intimacy with God. The reader is reminded to include God even in his simplest daily activities. He is told that in this way, one's whole life becomes an unceasing prayer. “Did you not know, the weaker and more wretched you are, the more I seek and love you?” (NB 9 p.23) “I love you to a degree you are unable to grasp."(NB 6 p.50) “I, God, love you to distraction.” (NB 6 p.26) And most profoundly of all, “Love loves you.” (NB 5 p.7) Jesus says, “how I long for you to approach Me and become intimate with Me! I am your High Priest, but also your Holy One, your Brother, your Companion, your Spouse, I am your Creator and you are all My seed ...” (NB 29 p.47) But, in True Life in God, Jesus does not rest in the basics. He goes on to share sublime truths. He expounds upon Sacred Scripture. He exhorts the reader to prayer, sacrifice and holiness. And He prophesizes regarding the, “end of times,” which He says, are now upon society. Within the text of True Life in God, Jesus even foretold (10 years, to-the-day) of the horrible tragedy at the World Trade Center, September 11, 2001; and also had warned of the Christmas tsunami of 2004. "He who has ears, let him hear.” (Matthew 11:15) Vassula RydenToday, Vassula has received and published 109 notebooks full of dictation from God. She relentlessly travels the world-over to spread God’s messages of love and unity. She has been invited by and has addressed the World Council of Churches, and her writings were received with love and thanksgiving by Pope John Paul II in 1998. She does all of this, “with love, for Love,” and receives no compensation for any of her labors. Resources:
