Examination of Conscience: TweensPre-Teens Preparing for ReconciliationMar 23, 2007 Diane Laney Fitzpatrick
The 10 Commandments are a useful tool for young people to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
They're old enough to know the drill: Examine your conscience, make a mental list of sins, pick the "nice" priest and go to confession. But how many young people take time to make a thorough examination of their consciences before the sacrament of reconciliation? Just like cleaning their rooms and doing their homework, they're going to need reminders. Here are some questions pre-teens should ask themselves before participating in reconciliation. An Examination of Conscience for Tweens Using the 10 Commandments1. I am the Lord your God. You shall not have strange gods before me
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's day
4. Honor your father and your mother
5. You shall not kill
6. You shall not commit adultery
7. You shall not steal
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods
