Edward (prosperous guardian) October 13 – One of the last Anglo-Saxon kings this once the patron saint of England, was replaced by St.George and assumed the role of patron saint of the royal family. He is also the patron saint of kings, difficult marriages, and separations. Elmo, Aylmer, Elmer (scholar) June 2 – Saint Erasmus of Formiae, known as Saint Elmo, is the patron saint of sailors and women in child birth. Eric (ever-ruler) May 18 – This king of Sweden built the first large church in Sweden and used his royal power to spread the Gospel. He is the patron saint of Sweden. Eugene, Gene (well born) June 2 – Described as a gentle man, Saint Eugene was consecrated pope when St. Martin, then pope, was exiled. He was very generous to the poor. Whether parents perceive their baby boy is destined to be beloved, wild, well born, or a scholar, selecting a saint name can strengthen the connection between child and faith.
